Zenith "Zenette" model 4G800
3 way (AC/DC/Battery) Portable
From my collection, another excellent example of an early portable
(AC or battery) radio. A small set with a flip-up lid and it works
perfectly. Made of solid color maroon plastic with no damage.
These are hard to find without cracks and damage to the case. Near
perfect condition with only a few minor scratches which can be
rubbed out if one so desires and uses the right material and
technique. I choose to leave as found because it is in such great
condition the way it is.
The radio incorporates the low current, no heat battery type
tubes, so it's an excellent radio for everyday listing as it
produces very little heat. When the lid is opened, the radio comes
on instantly (almost as fast as a transistor radio). I performed
my usual an
electronic restoration many years ago and it still works
perfectly.
The battery compartment (accessed from the bottom) is clean and
free of rust and corrosion.

Belmont MINT CONDITION!
Ivory painted Bakelite
model 5D128
Please read and look at all the pictures, I defy you to find a
blemish on this radio. Neither the radio or images have been
touched up!
From my collection, one of the most perfect examples of a radio in
original condition that you will find. I seldom use the word mint
as it is so grossly mis-used but this radio is just that -
MINT!
Unfortunately, as new looking it was, it did not work. Not that I
was surprised though as use is not necessarily what causes old
radios not to function. Most failures are due to failed
capacitors. Even new old stock capacitors from 30 or more years
ago are likely to be defective. I believe I was the first to
remove the back of this set because there were no "booger" marks
around the back retaining clips. I performed the usual
electronic restoration and then
found a factory defect that would have prevented the radio from
ever working properly. I suspect the radio was a gift and set on
shelf since it was new. It came from an estate in Portland, OR and
I'm sure I am the second owner. All the push-buttons have local
Portland station call letters.
Even the bottom paper label is un-blemished!

Addison dark green, marbled Plaskon
model L2
This one has been part of my collection since 1989 when I
complete

repaired it and the repair is sound and invisible unless you
remove the trim or look inside the case.

Arvin "Catalin" (maroon & butterscotch)
model 532 "Lefty"
From my collection, A real beauty! This is one of the few radios with a left handed dial.
I have owned this radio since 1988. It was restored by the
previous owner, he did a good job and it still works fine. I'm
offering it as found with a small hairline crack at the lower
right hand bottom just below the insert grille. This is very
common on this model because as the radio cabinet shrunk around
the grille-work over the years, the stress would cause a fracture
at the weakest point. I've seen several other radios of this model
that have the fracture in the same location. The fracture has not
grown in all the years I've owned it, nor does not detract from
the beauty of this otherwise fine example or maroon and
butterscotch Catalin radio. The solution to stop the fracture from
growing is to trim a little off the insert grille where it fits
into a routed out section of the cabinet on the insides. This I
did years ago.
