Circa 1930. General Motors produced home radios from 1928 - 1931. All were upscale, expensive sets. Most featured fine cabinetry like the (above) unusual model with no speaker grill. The speaker is mounted on the underside, aimed at the floor at about a 30 degree forward angle.
Other than the speaker placement, there are two other unusual features for such an early set; (1) the bass - treble control and (2), the "slide rule" tuning dial scale. I believe this to be the first console to use this type of tuning dial which was not the style until the late 30's.
