The "Perikon" uses two rather rare minerals; Bornite in the fixed cup and Zincite in the movable section.

The Radiola I is an example of a receiver uses this somewhat complex detector assembly. Most crystal detectors have a "cat whisker" and a chunk of Germanium for the fixed crystal. There is no cats whisker in the Perikon Detector, just two minerals that make contact with each other. My research found the Perikon Detector gives more volume than it's more common counterpart using Galena and the cat whisker.
