The above was an ongoing project for more than six years. It started when I acquired several Philco 90 chassis & speakers but had no cabinets for them. Then a new member joined our vintage radio society (NVRS) who was a professional cabinet maker. After we got acquainted we discussed the idea of him making reproduction cabinets for the Philco 90. After some consideration, he agreed to do it. I loaned him an original cabinet for the pattern, he spent considerable time fabricating patterns plus the expense to have router bits made for the special contours unique to the '90.

Beautiful matching veneers and hardwoods were used to match the original construction of the cabinet both inside and out. This is not a cheap imitation but a beautiful reproduction of the Philco 90 cabinet. He then produced 3 such cabinets. The idea was to sell some to other radio collectors to help recover some of his expenses. These beautiful cabinets were made identically to the originals in every respect and were offered for $300.00 ready to finish. Everyone who saw the cabinets loved them but no one wanted to shell out the bucks to buy one!

I ended up with two of them, Gary D. Miller (the cabinet maker) kept the other one that I fitted with a beautifully restored  90 chassis that I restored. I traded one off a few years ago and recently finished the one above. All the electronics, knobs, speaker and components are original Philco 90 items.

Reproduction chassis & internal cabinet labels are available
