Circa 1940? from my collection, the beauty of this nice little player is the condition, it is flawless, if I had the original box and packing material it would be considered NOS! I rarely use the word mint and only on occasion use the term near mint but this piece is absolutely MINT!  This is a tube type very basic single speed record player, the type you would have used as a kid sitting around on the floor with your friends in the late 40's or early 50's spinning your favorite tunes. The case is covered with imitation alligator skin.

This has been in my collection for more than 10 years. I purchased it from a dealer at an antique show who said he found it in an old trunk full of goodies that he purchased from an estate. He stated that "all of the stuff in the trunk appeared to have been placed there right after they were unwrapped, like gifts at a wedding reception and never used". Who knows the real story behind that trunk full of unused stuff, one can only imagine what may have happened after the items were placed in the trunk.

There was no name or identification as to who made this when I found it, the "Play - Mate" logo is my creation.

approx. measurements: 12X8X5"
