A
seldom seen set, RCA's last battery operated model of the
1920's. Introduced in the fall of 1929, the Radiola 21 differs
from the typical '20's battery set with it's unusual tube
line-up. One of the first sets to use the new "screen grid"
tubes. Complimented with 2 - UX-222's, & 3 - UX-112 tubes. It's
performance with the 2 (well shielded) "screen grid" TRF stages
is exceptional with excellent selectivity and sensitively from
one end of the dial to the other. The chassis is of unusual
design also and I have included extra images of it for those
that like to see the insides.
The above was just restored and
added to my collection, the finish is original, I have restored
the electronics by rebuilding the capacitor blocks and repairing
the "pot metal" tuning chassis frame. This is the same basic pot
metal "RF" chassis that was used on the Radiola 44 & 46 which is
very prone to "pot metal
cancer".
