Radiola AR-800
|
Introduced in May of 1923, the Radiola II was RCA's first true self contained portable (sans the antenna), 9594 were made. The Radiola II sold for $97.50 and the price included a pair of "Brandes" headsets, 2 - UV-199 tubes and set of batteries. All that was needed to listen was an antenna. One of the promo's for the set stated: "With even with an improvised antenna it will pick good big distances-clearly". And over short distances, it will operate a loudspeaker." (yes that's the very language used in one of RCA's ads). The set measures approx 12X10X8" and weighs about 15 lb w/o batteries. |
