RCA, the early years

RCA was essentially a paper company from the time it was founded around 1919 until about 1930.

RCA built nothing, rather the entire RCA "Radiola Line" were all built by other companies such as General Electric, Westinghouse, Wireless Specialties and other companies. Not until around 1930-31 did RCA have it's own manufacturing facilities when the "Victor" company was purchase and incorporated as RCA-Victor.

For more detailed and accurate information, I refer you to Eric Wenass's fabulous book "The Golden Age Of RCA" available from Sonoran Publishing.

Other brands that used the same electronics as the Radiola models:

  • Brunswick

  • General Electric

  • Graybar

  • Westinghouse
