1953 "Pin-Up Girl" - Radio
business calendar
"MOTORADIO" Seattle WA.
Nice vintage calendar that's been professionally framed in
glass & a metal frame. There are some blems at the top and
bottom of the picture. They appear to be water spots, likely from
condensation while in storage. They do not detract from the
beautiful artwork of the "Rarin' To Go" cowgirl's picture
or the rest of the calendar.

Tung-Sol
small, vintage tube & tool caddy
I suspect this is from the 1930s or '40s.
In beautiful condition, these are usually badly beat-up.
This one has not seen much use or was in the care of a very
careful technician who treasured and cared for his equipment. It
even includes the key to the locking latches and his Tung-Sol
pocket protector.
Very sturdy and lightweight, made of
black phenolic with steel corner pads,

Knobs I have thousands of vintage
radio & TV knobs from the 1920's - '50's. If you are seeking knobs, please keep in
mind that it takes time to search for them so don't expect that
they will be available for a couple of bucks. My time is usually
more valuable than the knobs. If you are not willing to pay a
minimum of $20.00 + postage, please don't ask me to spend my time
searching. I can rarely find a knob by a model number, so when
inquiring, please provide and image of the knob/s you are seeking
and the shaft size & shape
(IE 1/4", spline hole) are necessary.

pricing on multiple knob purchase. Contact

Balkite
Early Battery Charger
small trickle charger from the 1920s
These were used to keep either your
radio's "A" battery or a typical 6 volt car battery charged. The
glass jar (with the proper electrodes in place) was filled with a
solution of sodium tetra borate (Borax) which service as the
charger's rectifier.
This devise has not been tested and
is sold as found, as-is

Raytheon Clock
made by Pam Clock Co.
from the '50's
From my collection, this hung on my wall for
last 10 years. It looked so great when I purchased it, I just
bought in home and hung it. When, I decided recently to offer it
for sale, I remembered why I had not plugged it in. The cheap
plastic motor cover on the rear was damaged. When I attempted to
repair it I discovered the motor was also damaged. The replacement
Pam clock motors (yes, the original types are still available) is
a bit larger and more substantial than the cheap one that was
originally in this clock.
I did not want to place one of those common
$3.00 quartz battery motors in this piece, so I purchased a new
Pam motor and spent the next two days figuring out how to
house it. I found the perfect solution and from the way it worked
out, it looks (unless given a close inspection) very kosher.
Keeps good time, runs silent and other than
the new motor and rear housing, all original.

This is the finest polish for plastic that I have found,
originally formulated to clean and polish the old Bakelite
telephones. Works great on Catalin, Bakelite, Plaskon, and most
plastics. Use after *rubbed
out with "Blue Magic" (see below). 7 oz aerosol
This is also an excellent final polish for wood radio cabinets.
*rubbing out with "Blue Magic" is not always
necessary, use caution when doing so on Bakelite. For more info sure read my notes on;

Hickok Roll Chart Gear replacement roll chart gear for Hickok tube testers
Reproduction roll chart gear,
fits most Hickok tube testers. Tough, made with industrial
quality resin impregnated with fiberglass.
You will often find this gear with
missing or broken teeth. There is a good reason for that and if
you just replace the gear, you are also likely to break the new
one.
REASON: the original roll
charts on the early models were often updated to include the
ever increasing number of new tubes. When the new, longer chart
was installed, this made made the spooled chart thicker and
prone to lock up near the end of their travel. So the operator
would attempt to force movement of the chart by simple brute
force (with accompanying sore thumb) or employed the aid of a
screwdriver or other tool. This force, of course would often
result in damaging the gear.
Prognosis: the chart was
installed incorrectly (too tight) or the original
wood roll chart spools were a bit too large in diameter to
accommodate the new roll charts.
Solution: install new,
(smaller diameter) wood spools when replacing the broken gear. You
can get nice straight wood dowels at a good hardware store. Make
sure they are straight and use a lathe to drill new end holes. I
find the 1/2" diameter size works best when using the updated,
long, comprehensive updated roll charts.
Tip: you will have to
carefully drill out the small rivet that holds the gear in
place. Then use the correct size machine screw & nut to replace
the rivet if you don't have a replacement rivet.
WARNING!
after replacing the gear, if your chart does not roll
freely from end to end and you force it, the new gear is
very likely to break. NOTE: colors will vary
NOTE: THESE ARE TO USE A WD11 in a
