Tiffany-Tone (chassis)
in an ugly, wood (home-made) cabinet
I purchased this years ago because of the beautiful & colorful back
lighted dial. I figured it originally came from a much more attractive

Sold as found, it works poorly (tunes in a couple of stations with
howl). Need a general electronic restoration.

NORCO - *Portland, OR?
model 4
NORCO was first associated with
Northwestern Radio Manufacturing Co.,
one of Portland's finest & earliest radio manufacturing companies
in the early days of radio. They tooled and machined most of their
own parts including the knobs, panels, transformers and dials.
Their last model was made in 1925, a 4 dial, slope panel battery
set, NORCO model 77.
the company went out of business around 1929.
*Unfortunately, the model 4 was not
manufactured by NORCO or in Portland, OR. The model 4 was (as
noted on the rear label) was made for NORCO in San Francisco, CA.
Which I believe was actually made by Remler. My information is
that Remler took over the NORCO name and made several models under
that brand name in the early 1930's.
From my personal collection, another small beauty that's been
fully
restored. Beautifully refinished, it looks and works great.

Zenith "Mini Console" or "Child's Radio"
model 5R226 (5-R-226)
From my collection, this neat little set is seldom seen as it is
somewhat scarce. A table set made
to mimic the style of a console (speaker at bottom, dial at top). It has
undergone my electronic
restoration, it's very clean and works very well (as do nearly
all Zenith's). The cabinet, finish and all but the components
(capacitors, resistors etc.) used in my electronic restoration are
all original. The wood case is excellent but the finish does have a little
wear a few blems and minor scratches.
As with all my restorations on radios with a power transformer, a
fuse to protect the transformer has been added underneath the
chassis.

Philco
model
90 (type 2) 1931
The classic "Cathedral" radio, this is the last (and the
best) of the 3 versions of Philco 90's from my collection. This one I
restored about 12 years ago.
As you can see from the images, it's in superb condition. It
performs great and you will be hard pressed to find a better one
at any price. The tuning condenser was oxidized when
I acquired the set requiring a complete dissemble to clean it. I
then took the liberty to paint condenser frame and I did the
same to the audio section tube shield plate (which was also
oxidized).
I removed all the Bakelite condenser blocks, gutted out the
original components (a big messy job) and
stuffed the blocks with modern capacitors and resistors. I did the same to the
multi-section metal enclosed by-pass condenser assemblies. As you
can also see in the under chassis image, I added a line fuse to
protect the power transformer (a standard practice by yours
truly).
