This beauty was not found in
this condition, what you see is the result of a a major
restoration that took me more than one year (working on it off &
on from time to time) to complete.
Unfortunately, I did not photograph it before I started the restoration as I didn't intend to restore it because it was so rough. Here' a description of the speaker's condition when it was acquired in mid 2017:
It was painted with a thick black coating of what appeared to be latex paint.
The left side of the outer frame was broken and wired together with bailing wire.
There was a small chunk of the cast iron frame missing (it had undergone a crude repair which was hidden under the thick coating of black paint).
The wiring was badly deteriorated with some missing
The "Pathe'" badge was corroded and painted finish gone.
The cast iron base was badly rusted.
This version did not come with the back lights (it was an option) that I added.
The pot metal for the driver mechanism's mounting platform was distorted and suffering from what I call "pot metal cancer" (see photos below).
