Pathe' "Westminster" radio speaker ca: 1925

This beauty was not found in this condition, what you see is the result of a a major restoration that took me more than one year (working on it off & on from time to time) to complete.

Unfortunately, I did not photograph it before I started the restoration as I didn't intend to restore it because it was so rough. Here' a description of the speaker's condition when it was acquired in mid 2017:

  • It was painted with a thick black coating of what appeared to be latex paint.

  • The left side of the outer frame was broken and wired together with bailing wire.

  • There was a small chunk of the cast iron frame missing (it had undergone a crude repair which was hidden under the thick coating of black paint).

  • The wiring was badly deteriorated with some missing

  • The "Pathe'" badge was corroded and painted finish gone.

  • The cast iron base was badly rusted.

  • This version did not come with the back lights (it was an option) that I added.

  • The pot metal for the driver mechanism's mounting platform was distorted and suffering from what I call "pot metal cancer" (see photos below).
